About the artist
After studying architecture Hartmut Kaiser (born in 1965 in Hamburg), a Swiss by choice, worked in Zurich and in Hamburg mainly on the subject of photography and image editing. Another field of activity is the development of light fixtures.
Exploring an unfamiliar city on foot, finding out about it and discovering new things - that's what attracted him to photographically capture supposedly insignificant perspectives of the city of Zurich.
The lights and pictures exhibited in the Kunstwarenhaus deal exclusively with Zurich. Depicted are mostly hidden perspectives on the city, which often have a recognition value only on second viewing and often evoke a smile. Tags on house walls, graphics on pedalos, reflections in shop windows are torn out of their relative insignificance and put in the limelight: a kind of inventory of Zurich's everyday life that is constantly in motion and constantly being expanded - lovingly and with great attention to detail. An indispensable gadget not only for tourists but also for homesick Zurich residents. The StadtSichten are presented as small plastic magnetic pictures (13.5 x 13.5 cm), as larger aluminum pictures (30 x 30 cm) and as cube lights, MDF lacquered black or white (17.5 x 17.5 x 17.5 cm, LED-powered).
