About the artist
Internationally acclaimed artist Martina Niederhauser takes on new perspectives on women that delve into issues of feelings, beauty, identity, and the deeper layers of relationships between their inner thoughts and outer expressions. By creating layered mixed media paintings, the carefully selected papers start another life in a new form, enhanced with gouache, acrylic and oil paint on canvas. Niederhauser seeks to share her large figurative works as a “diary written in colors” with communicative forms and conjunctive lines, expressing her life and her world.
Born in 1977, Niederhauser has worked to become a full-time artist after living across 3 continents and working in the corporate marketing world. With many successful years of work as an artist, including 3 studio years in Shanghai and 3 years in Chicago, Niederhauser is now based in Sarnen, Switzerland. Collected throughout the world, Niederhauser’s paintings can be found in many public, corporate and private collections.
