Karin Hofer was born in Burgdorf, where she trained as a letterer and sign designer. advertising designer. At the School of Design in Bern she acquired the basics of color and form, attended courses such as nude drawing, representational drawing and illustrating people.
In 2012, she picked up a chainsaw for the first time. She remembers how the cumbersome tool conjured an interesting pattern in the wood and how she was fascinated by it.
Karin Hofer completed an art degree in sculpture and works independently as an artist in Zurich. She uses the chainsaw as a dynamic working tool to work on the wood. Adding color to bring out the subtle details brings the forms to life.
